Problem
A key account had inconsistent, manually maintained reporting, with no standard process for keeping account data clean or dashboards up to date. Engineering workload on the account was thin at the time, so the gap fell to whoever could pick it up.
Process
I took on the account's data analytics by default, learning Power Query properly to handle jobs too large for manual spreadsheet work. I built CRM dashboards in Power BI and automated the data hygiene processes that had previously been done by hand, alongside contributing to account strategy and budget planning. The dashboards and automation tools were built to be reusable rather than one-off, so they could outlive the specific reporting request that prompted them.
Outcome
The account became the best-performing in the portfolio from a data hygiene standpoint, and the tools were picked up and reused by several other people beyond the original request.
