Assistant Section Leader

For three years I planned and delivered weekly educational and activity-based sessions for a group of 30 young people aged 8 to 14. It was my first real exposure to public speaking, risk assessment, and budget management, all under the ordinary but constant pressure of running a session for 30 kids who expect it to be good every single week.

It's also where I first had to handle genuinely high-stress, high-responsibility situations with no one else to hand them to. Small things at the time, a minor injury, a session going sideways, a parent needing reassurance, but they taught me to stay composed under responsibility in a way that's carried into every leadership role I've had since.
